My Window

We all see the world through a different window. Some are bigger than others; they have different scenery, shapes, and designs. Sometimes it’s hard to see the world the way others do, but here’s some thoughts from my window of the world.

Poem for my Mom🤍

You sacrificed your ideal body in order to give us life.

You spend countless hours standing to fill our bellies with love.

You had a life before we arrived, and she still lives in your memory, but I don’t really know that girl.

5 little minions fill the house with noise, messes, joy, and laughter.

One day they’ll realize how much patience you have to put up with their chaos and how much work you put in to give them all you can, but today is not that day and we’re sorry.

You, not only giving your love to us, but other children who needed a safe place to live, are a servant of the lord.

The days where parenting was an adventure beyond understanding, but you still gave it your all because you knew it was important. The nights where you would scratch my back in your bed or let me cuddle with you and Dad- such a little one snuggled with love. The nights where I was no less than safe, but still scared and you did not brush me aside, you reassured my racing mind.

Memories of days where we would play in the snow run through my mind and I long for the beauty of those simpler times wishing I could remember them better. Wishing I could have really known you during that time of my life as not just “Mom”, but you, what that really meant other than my naive perspective.

Years of pursuing a job that a lot of the world doesn’t understand lately. It’s not a “real job” they say. “By who’s definition?” we ask. What is more important than raising a child to be able to conquer the world with confidence and faith to leap into the unknown? What’s more important than guiding them to the ability to stay true to who they are and be fearless in times of opposition? Nothing, I say. There’s nothing more important than bringing more life to the world and filling It with people who will make a difference.

You are seen.

You are loved.

You are wonderful.
